The German producer price indices for beech logs developed slightly negative in March 2022. On average, they decreased by 0.6% to 105.7 points. B grade fell 0.2% from February to 113 points. The index for 3 m lengths fell by 0.1% to 107.6 points, while that for 5 m lengths fell by 0.3% to 113.9 points.
C ranges were down 0.4% in March to hit 100.5 points. 3 m lengths decreased by 0.6% to 100 points, 5 m lengths fell by 0.4% to 93.8 points. B/C ranges recorded a minus of 1% to 109.7 points.
Beech pulpwood recorded an increase of 2.9% to 104.7 points in March. Oak pulpwood returned to its uptrend, up 5% to 96.1 points. The hardwood pulpwood price index increased by 3.2% to 103.4 points.
Year-on-year, the beech log index was up 3.9% on the same month. B grade gained 9.3% from March 2021 with 5.1% at 3m lengths and 10.3% at 5m lengths. C ranges increased by 1%. 3 m lengths increased by 6.7%, 5 m lengths decreased by 7.3%. B/C ranges increased by 5.3%. Industrial quality recorded an increase of 11.7%.
